My part time occupation is a freelance web designer. Actually i was a full time web designer on the period of 2005 - 2006. My jobs it creating web designs for my clients and i think this is a good job since i'm fluent with it so far. There are some requirements in order for doing this job. First, we need to have a good internet access. I use my mobile broadband internet access for this purposes. We need a fast internet access for checking our ftp server after the web is finished, we also need it for finding many useful resources for our working purposes. There are a lot of website offering many useful scripts which can make our web designing job even easier. We also need this internet access for trying our script on our website especially if the web using server side scripting which need web access between server and client computer. Currently i have one desktop PC and one laptop. But mostly i use my desktop PC for my web designs jobs. Desktop PC has better performance for hard work than laptop. Doing a web designs job need a collaboration between many software, such as image editing, sound editing, 2D animations, 3D animations, video, etc. So for such purposes i think a desktop PC is much better than laptop because laptop has limited performance. Nowadays a website with flash animation inside is a most wanted. We can see such site such as YouTube. This is the phenomenon on internet industry. A video streaming website which owned by Google. And the most interesting thing is it's free for using this website. Doing web designs job is totally different with other design subject such as interior design or home design. We don't need a painting area, or pencils, or paints. In web designs job, all we need is a computer with internet connection. Of course it doesn't mean we can do it with any kind of computer. A computer with high specification is strongly required. At the beginning of year 2000, web designer is one of the top ten most wanted job in this world. I think that time was the glorious for web designers. But today, the situation is totally different. Especially during this recession period, mostly web designers doing their job with freelance mode. However it's better than nothing to do. Being a freelance web designer is mean being your own boss for yourself. There are a lot of website offering web designing jobs on a bidding scheme. So, no need to worry about finding such project. There are a lot of web designing project we can 'fight' with on the internet. Just build your own portfolio and offering a reasonable and affordable price list, i believe such things can works and you'll get many job offers. Good luck.
