Lou was still back at his old job with the web page design company. His attempt as a house building and extension works contractor failed miserably, not to mention that his daydream about being a driving instructor remained a daily fantasy of his own creation.
His company has taken on a new product, a search engine codenamed SE Max. The management aimed to promote this product to the corporate and individual markets, encouraging the use of on-line searches using this search engine instead of the existing ones.
Lou's supervisor monitored him very strictly, knowing his reputation for laziness and shiftiness. He assigned Lou to work with a senior engineer, following a schedule of visiting 5 clients a day, to present and promote the new search engine.
Lou felt miserable, but there was nothing much he could do. Then he had a bright idea - he would know how else to use this new product to his advantage. On reaching home, he told his wife, Ivy about the new search engine and of course, exaggerated his role in the project. He said that the company intended to reach out to everyone that goes on-line, whether for personal, social or business reasons. He had proposed to the company that he will personally undertake to convert the individual markets, starting with the internet cafe owners.
Wow, only a laggard and liar could come up with such 'creative' ideas! Ivy believed in Lou's quest and strongly supported him. Every evening after dinner, Lou would drive off with his office files and laptop. He would hang out at an internet cafe, just in case Ivy called him. He was really enjoying himself. He was free, away from the noise of his children and his nagging wife. He went on-line to access social networking and internet dating sites, ogled at the young pretty customers or workers at the internet cafe. And all the while, his silly wife loudly praised her husband to anyone who would listen to her. She would magnify his importance, often stressing how hard her husband worked for his company, even sacrificing his personal time to promote their new search engine.
